Abu Dhabi: No peace in Sudan through military solutions

September 28, 2025 (PEN) Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, confirmed that the suffering of the Sudanese people has reached the level of famine due to the ongoing war, stressing her country's support for the aspirations of the Sudanese people to end the conflict and its humanitarian repercussions.

In the UAE's statement to the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Nusseibeh said that Abu Dhabi stands with the brotherly Sudanese people, adding that sustainable peace cannot be achieved through military solutions, but rather through advancing a transitional process that leads to an independent civilian government free from the control of the warring parties and where extremism and terrorism have no place.

She added that the UAE stresses the importance of the Quartet statement on Sudan and the call for a humanitarian truce, while simultaneously emphasizing the need for an immediate ceasefire and ensuring unhindered access for humanitarian aid throughout the country.
