The Trump administration is placing the Sudanese crisis at the top of its priorities.

June 28, 2025 (PEN) U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. Presidential Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa, Massad Boulos, expressed their country's gratitude to the Congolese and Rwandan parties following the signing of the peace agreement between them on Friday, noting the great efforts made to achieve this accomplishment.

"We are grateful to you both," Secretary Rubio said during the ceremony. "I know how difficult this has been and how much work has gone into it. We know there is more work to be done, but we are grateful to have you here today. It is an honor to be a part of this, and we are excited to be involved."

The Minister extended special thanks to the team at the African Affairs Bureau and the US State Department, commending the prominent role of Counselor Masoud Boulos, who, when asked about his next move, responded: "Sudan, Sudan," indicating the Sudanese crisis' priority on the US administration's agenda.

Minister Rubio emphasized the importance of the Sudan issue, saying, "Yes, it is very important, and you are very involved in it as well."
