The Executive Secretary of IGAD and the President of South Sudan discuss the role of the body in matters related to Sudan

28 March 2024 (PEN) The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Dr. Workneh Gebeho, met with the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, today in the capital, Juba.

The two sides discussed the progress achieved in implementing the ARCS regional system and the efforts made to activate the pending provisions.

The meeting also discussed, according to a tweet by the Executive Secretary of IGAD, the Authority’s participation in addressing issues related to Sudan, expressing gratitude for the leadership role of President Salva Kiir.
