The European Union condemns the targeting of a humanitarian convoy in El Fasher.

June 4, 2025 (PEN) European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Hajja Lahbib, condemned the attack on a humanitarian convoy in El Fasher, North Darfur, describing it as a "deliberate attack and an unacceptable violation of international law."

"These crimes affect humanity and must not go unpunished," Lahbib said in a statement on Wednesday, stressing that "the protection of aid workers and civilians is non-negotiable."

The World Food Programme and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) condemned the attack near Al-Kuma, which killed five convoy members and injured others, in addition to burning trucks and damaging essential food supplies.

The two agencies explained that the convoy, consisting of 15 trucks, was transporting life-saving food and nutrition aid to El Fasher for thousands of children and families affected by famine, amid a sharp deterioration in security and escalating violence.
