IOM: 3,200 families displaced from a village in West Kordofan due to clashes

June 29, 2025 (Anadolu Agency) The International Organization for Migration announced on Sunday that 3,200 families were displaced from the village of Qantour, in the Babanusa countryside of West Kordofan State, southern Sudan, as a result of clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.

"On Friday, 3,200 families were displaced from the village of Qantour in Babanusa District, West Kordofan State, due to clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces," the international organization said in a statement.

The statement said that families have been displaced to several locations throughout the Al-Eidiya area of West Kordofan State, noting that the situation "remains extremely tense and volatile."

In a separate statement, the organization said, "121 families were displaced from the village of Lamina in Shikan County, North Kordofan State, last Tuesday."

She said the family was displaced due to "worsening insecurity" to other locations within Shikan County in North Kordofan.
