The "Sumud" coalition welcomes Trump's statements on peace in Sudan.

July 10, 2025 (PEN) The Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Sumud) welcomed the recent statements made by US President Donald Trump regarding Sudan, in which he announced his administration's intention to facilitate a peaceful settlement in Sudan, Libya, and a number of African countries. This announcement was made during a mini-summit hosted by the White House and attended by a number of African leaders.

Jaafar Hassan, the coalition's official spokesman, said that this "commendable" American approach is fully appreciated, stressing the need for all brotherly and friendly countries to support the paths of a negotiated political solution to stop the war, which he described as having "cost Sudan thousands of lives, destroyed its infrastructure, and displaced and humiliated millions of Sudanese men and women."

Hassan added that the Steadfastness Alliance appreciates the renewed positive role of the United States in resolving the continent's crises, and hopes that this move will contribute to supporting the path to peace and democratic transformation, in line with the aspirations of the majority of Sudanese.
