The Sumud Alliance holds a consultative meeting in Nairobi to expand dialogue on ending the war.

July 9, 2025 (PEN) - The Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Sumud) participated in a consultative meeting in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, over the past few days. The meeting brought together a number of media professionals, representatives of civil society organizations, visual artists, and public figures from among the Sudanese residing in Kenya. The meeting was part of what the alliance described as its "ongoing efforts to expand civil dialogue on ways to end the war and restore the democratic process in Sudan."

According to a statement from the coalition, the meeting featured "frank and transparent discussions" that addressed the coalition's performance and its political vision. Participants offered "constructive critical input" and presented a series of proposals to develop the vision and expand the scope of dialogue on it.

According to the statement, a number of participants stressed the need to "unite civil ranks in the face of war, hate speech, and division," emphasizing that "restoring the civil democratic path is the only way to achieve just peace and build a civil state."

According to the coalition, this meeting is part of a series of open consultations it is organizing with civil society actors inside and outside Sudan, as part of what it describes as "a commitment to the principles of transparency and collaborative action."
