It calls on IGAD to take practical steps urging the two parties to the conflict in Sudan to sign an agreement to stop hostilities

December 9, 2023 (pen) The Coordination of Democratic Forces (Taqaddum) said that it had sent letters to the heads of IGAD countries, before the IGAD summit was held today, Saturday, in Djibouti.

Taqaddam stated in a statement that the speeches focused on the need for the summit to work on taking practical steps urging both sides of the fighting to sign an agreement to stop hostilities and open humanitarian paths. Adding that it is necessary to work on how to design a political process that excludes only the National Congress, the Islamic Movement and its facades, ends the war, achieves just peace, and establishes a path of sustainable civil, democratic transformation.

The Coordination Committee added that it will continue its contacts with regional and international actors in order to speed up the end of the disaster and address its effects through peaceful, political, negotiated solutions that end this war and achieve peace, freedom and justice.
