May 15, 2025 (PEN) Ramtane Lamamra, the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy to Sudan, tweeted that the upcoming Arab summit in Baghdad represents an important opportunity to activate the collective Arab role in efforts to stop the war in Sudan.

The 34th Arab Summit (Baghdad Summit) is scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in the capital, Baghdad, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid. The summit is the 34th meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the leaders' level.
