Emergency Lawyers: The liquidation of civilians is a deliberate approach that amounts to war crimes.

August 18, 2025 (PEN) The Emergency Lawyers Group said a circulating video documented what it described as a "heinous crime" in the city of El Fasher, in which a Rapid Support Forces officer was seen executing an unarmed citizen in cold blood, in a "horrific scene that reflects the most horrific images of field executions and gross human rights violations."
The group explained that the officer appearing in the clip is Al-Fateh Idris, known as "Apollo," noting that he has a history of similar incidents that have been documented, which "proves that what happened was not an isolated incident, but rather part of a recurring and systematic approach."
The group added that "filming and broadcasting the crime highlights the absence of any legal or moral deterrent and exposes the systematic nature of extrajudicial killing as a weapon of intimidation," considering that these practices "amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity."
The statement, according to the lawyers' group, criticized the lack of accountability despite the Rapid Support Forces' repeated statements about opening investigations, considering that "the failure to announce real results and the failure to hold soldiers accountable confirms the continued impunity."
The group called for an urgent and independent international investigation, with its findings made public, the accountability of the responsible officer and those behind him, and their extradition to international justice. It also called for immediate protection for civilians in El Fasher and other areas affected by the violations.
The emergency lawyers concluded that "investigation, accountability, and the extradition of perpetrators are an urgent necessity to end impunity, restore justice, and protect civilians from further violations."
