An American official demands an end to the use of food as a weapon of war in Sudan

June 11, 2024 (PEN) The United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said that Sudan is suffering from the worst humanitarian crisis on Earth and needs more of the world’s attention.

She added that famine looms, including in Khartoum, one of Africa's largest cities, where more than 220,000 malnourished children could die in the coming months if they do not receive food and care.

She stressed that the world must demand that the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces stop using food as a weapon of war and end this conflict.
