Two gunmen stormed Bashayer Hospital, and MSF reduced its medical staff.

October 13, 2025 (PEN) - Two armed men, escorting an injured patient, stormed the emergency room of the Bashayer Hospital, which Doctors Without Borders supports, in the capital, Khartoum, on October 10, the international medical organization announced. They threatened Ministry of Health staff, forcing the emergency room to be evacuated.

The organization added that a gunshot was fired during a fight at the site, with no injuries to staff or patients. MSF staff were not present at the time of the incident, the organization explained.

She noted that the injured patient's condition was stabilized and he was transferred the same day to another healthcare facility. The emergency room was later reopened, but the medical staff remains traumatized by the incident.

The organization confirmed that MSF has reduced the size of its medical team at the hospital, pending confirmed security guarantees that the Ministry of Health is working to secure in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
