An attack on a shelter in El Fasher claims the lives of dozens, amid widespread condemnation.

October 11, 2025 (PEN) Fifty-three people, including 14 children and 15 women, were killed and 21 others injured in a missile attack targeting the Dar Al-Arqam shelter in El Fasher by the Rapid Support Forces, according to a statement by the Sudan Doctors Network on Saturday.

According to the Resistance Committees Coordination in El Fasher, the attack began Friday evening and continued Saturday morning. The statement added that bodies burned inside the shelter's caravans throughout the night, before the attack resumed in the morning.

The coordination committee explained that more than 10 people were suffering from severe shortness of breath and recurrent nausea, suggesting that "foreign gases were likely used in the attack." It emphasized that the situation had become catastrophic and that "there are no longer any guarantees."

The Sudanese Doctors Network condemned the attack, describing it as a "massacre and genocide," holding the Rapid Support Forces leadership fully responsible. It called on the United Nations, the African Union, and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to take immediate and urgent action to halt this bloodshed and prosecute the perpetrators without delay and cooperate.
