Adam Rijal reveals the acts of violence and abuse affecting the displaced in Abu Shouk camp

May 23, 2024 (PEN) The official spokesman for the General Coordination for Displaced Persons and Refugees, Adam Rijal, said that 60% of the displaced people in Abu Shouk camp in El Fasher have been displaced to unknown areas since 3:22 am as a result of yesterday’s events.

Men reported that the displaced people, especially in the northern Balakat, were subjected to widespread violations against human rights, including looting, robbery, abuse, and beatings with gunshots inside their homes, by the Rapid Support Forces north of the Abu Shouk camp for the displaced.

Rijal added that these grave violations committed against the displaced, in addition to the shells fired randomly inside the camp by both sides of the conflict, led to great fear among the displaced.
