MSF warns of deteriorating conditions in Sudan's largest IDP camp

February 12, 2025 (PEN) - The international medical organization Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has expressed its grave concern for the safety of its staff and hundreds of thousands of people living in dire conditions in Sudan's largest displacement camp, amid escalating attacks by the Rapid Support Forces around the city of El Fasher and the imposition of a siege on it and Zamzam camp.

The organization said that its field hospital in Zamzam is not equipped to deal with trauma injuries that require surgery, noting that sending patients in critical condition to the Saudi hospital in El Fasher has become impossible due to violent clashes on the road.

MSF called on the warring parties to respect health facilities and health care workers, stressing the need to protect civilians in these difficult times.
