Egyptian-Emirati contact emphasizes the role of the "Quartet" in supporting a humanitarian truce in Sudan

The call between the two sides addressed developments in the regional situation (Independent Arabia)

January 6, 2026 (PEN) Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty held a telephone conversation on Monday, January 5, with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as part of ongoing consultations and coordination between the two countries regarding ways to support bilateral relations.

According to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the call addressed developments in the regional situation, particularly the latest developments in Sudan. Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing the existing coordination within the framework of the Quartet Mechanism, which contributes to pushing towards a humanitarian truce, establishing safe humanitarian havens and corridors, and ultimately achieving a comprehensive ceasefire.
