The number of refugees arriving in Chad has increased by 56% compared to October.

November 23, 2025 (pen) The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has recorded the arrival of 8,267 new refugees in Chad since the latest attack in the Sudanese city of El Fasher in late October, belonging to 2,987 families, as crossings of the eastern border continue at an uneven pace.

The commission explained that 62% of the arrivals (5,136 people from 1,661 families) entered via Ur Kasoni-Bhai and Kariari in East Indi, while 27% crossed the border via Tini in the Fira Valley, and 11% arrived via Adre and Adi Kong in Wadai.

On November 19 alone, 301 people from 115 families were registered, 78% of whom crossed the Or Kasoni point.

The UNHCR reported that between November 13 and 19, 1,923 people from 705 families arrived, while the weekly data showed a slight decrease in the rate of arrivals compared to the previous two weeks, recording a decrease of 6.5% between November 6 and 12 and 22% between October 30 and November 5.

However, the report indicates that the current arrival rate is 56% higher than the same period in October, reflecting a general trend of increasing refugee numbers despite weekly fluctuations.
