Al-Azhar stresses the need to prioritize the interests of Sudan and stop the bloodshed.

October 31, 2025 (PEN) Al-Azhar Al-Sharif strongly condemned in a statement issued yesterday, Thursday, what it described as the “heinous violations and horrific crimes” committed against civilians in the Sudanese city of Al-Fashir, noting that they represent “a flagrant violation of human values, religious principles and international conventions.”

Al-Azhar explained that civilians in Al-Fashir are being subjected to "killing, bombing, starvation, and deprivation of medical and relief services," calling on the wise men of Sudan and the rational people of the world to intervene urgently to stop what it described as "massacres, crimes, and violations" against the Sudanese people.

The statement stressed the need to prioritize reason and wisdom, to put Sudan’s best interests first, and to work to stop the bloodshed and end the violence that threatens the country’s unity.

Al-Azhar reminded the aggressors that "those they are killing are their Sudanese brothers," warning that conflicts fueled by "malicious political interests" will only bring Sudan more killing, backwardness and poverty, stressing that these conflicts serve foreign agendas aimed at weakening Sudan and controlling its resources.

Al-Azhar affirmed its readiness to send urgent relief convoys to Sudan to contribute to saving the deteriorating humanitarian situation, calling on the international community to bear its moral and humanitarian responsibilities, and to intervene to stop the violations, protect civilians and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid.

The statement concluded with a prayer that "God protect Sudan and spare it the calamities of discord and division, and bestow His tranquility upon its people and replace their fear with security, comfort and peace."
