WFP: Sudan faces unprecedented food crisis requiring urgent intervention

November 2, 2024 (PEN) The Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme, Cindy McCain, stated that 25 million people in Sudan are suffering from severe hunger, which constitutes the largest hunger crisis in the world and requires an urgent international response.

McCain stressed the need to achieve three urgent goals to save the Sudanese people at risk: ensuring safe humanitarian access to all areas in need, facilitating the flow of aid through all border crossings, and enhancing international support for those affected in Sudan.
