The World Food Programme warns that Sudan has reached a "breaking point."

April 23, 2025 (PEN) The United Nations World Food Programme warned that Sudan has reached a breaking point two years into the war, amid escalating famine, the displacement of millions, and an unprecedented deterioration in the humanitarian situation.

The program explained in a statement that nearly half of Sudan's population is suffering from hunger, while famine is spreading at an alarming rate, threatening the lives of millions and exacerbating the suffering of displaced people and the most vulnerable groups.

In an urgent response to this disaster, the program announced that it had intensified its efforts to provide emergency assistance, and last month, it was able to deliver aid to 4 out of 5 people facing or already suffering from famine.
