The World Food Programme warns of a repeat of what happened in El Fasher.

November 15, 2025 (pen) - Carl Skau, Deputy Executive Director of the World Food Programme, called on Saturday for urgent action to prevent disasters similar to what happened in the Sudanese city of El Fasher.

Skau, who is also the chief operating officer of the UN World Food Programme, expressed outrage via the “X” platform over the “atrocities” committed in El Fasher, which was recently captured by the Rapid Support Forces.

The UN official stressed the need to end the blockade immediately so that famine in Sudan can be addressed.

The United Nations announced that its Human Rights Council strongly condemned on Friday the escalating violence and reported atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces and associated and cooperating forces in and around El Fasher.

The resolution also requested the fact-finding mission to identify all officials for whom there are reasonable grounds to believe that they are responsible for alleged violations and abuses of international human rights law in and around El Fasher.
