UN: Sudan faces unprecedented hunger crisis, urgent funding needed

March 25, 2025 (PEN) Clementine Nkweta Salami, the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, warned of the worsening humanitarian crisis in the country, stressing that needs have never been greater, with more than half the population suffering from hunger.

Salami stressed in a tweet on Twitter that the absence of an urgent response could lead to the loss of more lives.

Salami stressed that funding the response in Sudan is not just a humanitarian aid, but an urgent necessity to save the lives of millions.
