The United Nations demands the immediate restoration of the communications network throughout Sudan

February 12, 2024 (PEN) The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Martin Griffiths, explained that the communications outage in Sudan prevents people from accessing basic services and transferring money, while the outage hinders the humanitarian response, stressing that the matter is unacceptable.

Griffiths urged all concerned to restore the communications network throughout Sudan immediately.

The continuous interruption of communications and Internet services led to an almost complete cessation of government services and banks, which led to the exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis that has been ongoing since mid-April of last year.
