Islamic Relief: Half of Sudan's population faces a food crisis after a year of war

10 March 2024 (PEN) Nearly half of the population, 17.7 million people, are facing crisis levels of food insecurity after nearly a year of war in Sudan, Islamic Relief has confirmed.

It stated in its report that farmers are afraid to plant or harvest crops due to attacks launched by armed groups.

She noted that millions of people were forced to leave their homes due to the ongoing fighting, while humanitarian aid was restricted.
