January 15, 2026 (PEN) The European Union reaffirmed on Thursday its support for the unity of Sudan and its rejection of any "parallel government," stressing the importance of reaching a humanitarian truce and a ceasefire to protect civilians and pave the way for the political process.

According to Anadolu News Agency, the head of the European Union mission in Sudan, Wolfram Vetter, said in a post on the “X” platform that the European Union renews its support for the unity of Sudan and its rejection of any attempts to form parallel governments.

Vetter stressed the need to reach a ceasefire and a humanitarian truce that would help protect civilians and pave the way for a political process.
