The European Union awards a human rights award to Sudan's emergency rooms.

April 30, 2025 (PEN) The European Union Office in Sudan and Member States announced today that the 2025 European Union Human Rights Award has been awarded to the Emergency Response Rooms Network, in recognition of its humanitarian role in addressing the repercussions of the ongoing armed conflict in the country.

Last year, the Peace Research Institute Oslo nominated Sudan's Emergency Response Rooms for the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize, stating that the nomination "expresses international recognition for the courageous and sustained efforts led by these rooms to save lives and provide aid amidst a widespread humanitarian collapse."
