Al-Burhan arrives in the Qatari capital, Doha

Sept. 7, 2023(pen) President of the Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan arrived in the Qatari capital Doha on Thursday morning, where he was received by the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the Qatar News Agency.

According to Anadolu Agency, the spokesman for the Qatari Foreign Ministry earlier denied knowledge of the existence of "a mediation request directed or will be directed to Qatar," but renewed Qatar's position calling for a halt to the war and a ceasefire in Sudan.

The conflict in Sudan since April 15 between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces has killed more than 5,000 people and displaced millions, according to United Nations reports.
