The Arab League condemns the crimes against civilians in El Fasher and calls for an immediate end to the fighting.

October 28, 2025 (PEN) The League of Arab States expressed its deep concern regarding the developments in the city of El Fasher, following the withdrawal of the Sudanese Armed Forces from it, and what was reported by UN and media reports regarding horrific crimes being committed against civilians trapped in the city.

The university said in a statement issued today that it condemns in the strongest terms the violations and crimes committed against innocent and defenseless civilians, including the elderly, women, and children.

The university called for a complete cessation of hostilities in El Fasher, which has been under siege by the Rapid Support Forces for more than two years, despite UN Security Council Resolution 2736 (2024) demanding that the siege be lifted immediately.

The university reiterated its call for the protection of civilians, allowing those who wish to leave to do so without hindrance, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to the city and its surroundings, and holding all those responsible for violations accountable.

The statement stressed that the current situation threatens Sudan’s stability, territorial integrity, and regional and international peace, emphasizing the need to coordinate Arab and international efforts to activate positive pressures aimed at stopping the violence and restoring peace and stability in the country.
