World Health: The conflict in Sudan is leaving a deadly impact on the population

June 12, 2024 (PEN) The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom, said that the conflict in Sudan is still raging and having a deadly impact on people. He stated that repeated attacks on health care are unacceptable, pointing to the extreme shock and sadness of the death of a nurse in a recent attack on a health facility in Wadi Al Noura in Gezira State.

Adhanom added that another attack on the South Hospital run by Doctors Without Borders in El Fasher, North Darfur, led to the closure of the hospital. He stated that such actions deprive people of life-saving care.

The Director-General stressed that health facilities must be protected and made safely available to all those in need at all times, calling on everyone to work for peace.
