WHO condemns attack on El Fasher hospital, calls for protection of health facilities

December 15, 2024 (PEN) The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom, condemned the attack on the main hospital in the city of El Fasher, Sudan, on Friday, which resulted in the killing of 9 people and the wounding of 20 others, including patients and their companions.

In a tweet on Twitter, Adhanom described the ongoing attacks on health facilities across Sudan as “deplorable.”

Adhanom stressed the need to protect all patients and health workers, and called for an end to all attacks on and around health facilities.
