World Health Organization delivers 51 million tons of medical supplies to Sudan

March 13, 2024 (PEN) The World Health Organization’s Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Hanan Balkhi, confirmed that the organization and the Sudanese Federal Ministry of Health are working together to strengthen the health system long before the events escalate.

This came during her visit to Sudan, where she met the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Ibrahim, and the two sides discussed how to sustain access to health care, provide medical supplies, and monitor and control diseases.

Hanan Balkhi also mentioned in her tweet on (X) that the global organization delivered this week 51 million tons of medical supplies from the organization’s logistics center in the International Humanitarian City in Dubai to Sudan.

She added that more is needed, stressing that the organization aspires to provide assistance continuously throughout Sudan, and to build a resilient health system by working with the Sudanese Ministry of Health.
