September 6, 2025 (PEN) - World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called for the delivery of aid to El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, to save lives, urging the Rapid Support Forces to end the siege of the city.

At a press conference in Geneva, Ghebreyesus confirmed that North Darfur state is experiencing a cholera outbreak, with 130,000 children suffering from malnutrition.

Ghebreyesus noted that cholera has spread to 18 regions in Sudan, stressing that the UN organization aims to vaccinate two million people in Darfur.
