Red Cross: 70% of health facilities in Sudan are out of service

November 18, 2025 (pen) Gilles Carbonnier, Vice President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, announced today that 70 percent of health facilities in Sudan are out of service.

Carbonnier added, in statements carried by the Qatar News Agency (QNA), that more than one hundred thousand Sudanese have been displaced from El Fasher to the areas surrounding the city, stressing that there is communication with the Rapid Support Forces to be able to enter the city and provide aid to those in need directly, but that this will not happen without a ceasefire.

He expressed concern about the inability to reach Kordofan city, and about the repetition of a horrific scenario similar to what happened in El Fasher, noting that thousands of people are trying to flee the city.

Carbonnier explained that Red Cross teams are deployed around El Fasher to provide urgent services to displaced people, all the way to the border with Chad.

The United Nations recently stated that 12 million people in Sudan have been displaced from their homes, in the world's largest displacement crisis.
