Iraq renews its solidarity with Sudan and calls for an immediate cessation of military operations.

May 15, 2025 (PEN) In his opening remarks at the Arab foreign ministers' meeting in preparation for the 34th Arab Summit, to be held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein reiterated Iraq's full solidarity with Sudan, affirming support for its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Hussein stressed the importance of unifying Arab efforts to immediately halt all military and combat operations taking place on Sudanese soil, calling for avoiding targeting civilians and protecting them from the ravages of the escalating conflict.

The Iraqi minister stressed that his country calls for a halt to military operations, the adoption of constructive dialogue, and resorting to the negotiating table as a means to resolve the crisis and spare the bloodshed of the Sudanese people.
