Cairo and Washington agree to raise the level of joint coordination to resolve the Sudanese crisis.

June 1, 2025 (PEN) Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, received a phone call on Sunday evening from Mr. Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and Middle East Affairs, and Senior Advisor for African Affairs.

The call saw an exchange of views on developments in Sudan, Libya, and the Great Lakes region. Minister Abdel Aati affirmed Egypt's unwavering support for Sudan's unity, stability, national institutions, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

The Minister also stressed the importance of ending the ongoing war in Sudan through positive engagement with various regional and international efforts, which would contribute to a ceasefire and alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.

During the call, the two sides agreed to enhance joint coordination between Cairo and Washington and cooperate with the stakeholders involved in the Sudanese issue, with the goal of reaching a settlement that would halt the ongoing war in the country.
