The Regional Director of the World Food Program warns of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan and the region

7 March 2024 (PEN) The World Food Programme’s Regional Director, Michael Dunford, conveyed the programme’s deep concern about the deteriorating situation in Sudan.

Dunford said that the refugees arriving in South Sudan have lost hope, noting that the crisis transcends borders.

He stressed that unless the conflict stops and humanitarian aid reaches those who need it, the entire region will face dire consequences.

The World Food Program warned yesterday that Sudan will witness the largest hunger crisis in the world unless it facilitates the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need, especially in areas that have witnessed violent clashes since mid-April last year.
