IOM reveals the extent of large-scale displacement in Sennar State

August 5, 2024 (PEN) The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported widespread displacement in Sudan’s Sennar State, with field teams estimating that ongoing clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have displaced 725,965 individuals, representing 145,193 households, between June 25 and July 29, 2024.

According to the organization, about 37% of these (269,575 IDPs) were displaced from Sennar State, while 63% (456,025 IDPs) were displaced from other states and were displaced again due to the escalation of clashes in Sennar State.
