IOM: 500 people displaced from El Fasher due to insecurity

October 13, 2025 (PEN) The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a United Nations agency, announced that field monitoring teams estimated the displacement of approximately 500 people from the city of El Fasher in El Fasher locality the day before yesterday, as a result of escalating insecurity in the area.

The organization explained in its report that the displacement occurred from the Dar Al-Arqam gathering site, and that the displaced people moved within the same locality in North Darfur.

She added that the situation remains tense and rapidly changing, stressing that her field teams will continue to closely monitor developments and provide more information on displacement and population movements across Sudan.
