USAID condemns the looting of the World Food Program warehouse on the island

December 29, 2023 (PEN) The United States Agency for International Development condemned the looting of food supplies from the World Food Program buildings on the island after the Rapid Support Forces stormed the warehouse and the program office, after the Rapid Support Forces seized Wad Madani.

“This food was enough to feed approximately 1.5 million people suffering from severe food insecurity for one month,” the agency said. The US agency added , "Any interference or theft of humanitarian goods is unacceptable and prevents life-saving aid from reaching those who need it most."

It is noteworthy that since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan on April 15 between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces, the humanitarian situation has deteriorated catastrophically as a result of the ongoing clashes.
