USAID: Half of Sudan's children are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance

February 17, 2024 (PEN) The lives of millions of people have changed 10 months since the outbreak of conflict in Sudan, the United States Agency for International Development said.

The agency reported that half of Sudan's children, or about 14 million children, are in need of life-saving humanitarian assistance due to the ongoing fighting.

She added that it is expected that some families in parts of Khartoum and West Darfur states will face catastrophic levels of hunger, which will lead to famine, death, and forms of malnutrition in children.
