Türkiye sends urgent aid to combat Port Sudan fires

May 10, 2025 (PEN) Turkish Ambassador to Sudan Fatih Yildiz announced that Turkish aid to combat the Port Sudan fires is "on the way," as part of an urgent response to support efforts to extinguish the blazes in the coastal city.

Yildiz explained that the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), in coordination with the Turkish Forestry Directorate, has collected large quantities of foam and specialized firefighting equipment, in preparation for sending them to Sudan in the coming hours.

This move comes as Port Sudan faces recurring fires caused by the bombing of strategic sites by Rapid Support Forces drones since last week.
