Ted Chaiban: The conflicts in Sudan have been forgotten

December 26, 2023 (PEN) Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund, Ted Chaiban, explained that the scale of the conflicts in the Palestinian Gaza Strip overshadowed others, referring to the conflicts in Sudan, describing them as “forgotten.”

Ted stated in a statement to Anadolu Agency that Sudan is witnessing “acts of violence targeting communities,” pointing to children and families who were “forced” to cross the Chadian border.

According to a UNICEF report, more than 3 million children in Sudan were forced to flee to safe areas in search of safety, food, water, shelter, protection, learning opportunities, and health care, explaining that most of them remained inside Sudan.

The organization described the child displacement crisis since the conflict began last April 15 as the largest child displacement crisis in the world.
