An American ambassador calls for an end to the fighting in Darfur to allow humanitarian aid to arrive

July 4, 2024 (PEN) In a tweet published by the US Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, on the (X) platform, she expressed her concern about the humanitarian situation in El Fasher, Darfur. She stressed that the United Nations is preparing to increase life-saving aid to civilians trapped in the region.

Greenfield explained in her tweet that the Rapid Support Forces, the Sudanese Armed Forces, and their allied militias must stop fighting immediately to allow humanitarian workers to do their work. She stressed that people's lives are at stake, calling for the need to open humanitarian corridors urgently.
