Syria sends a special team to Sudan to monitor the conditions of its citizens.

May 12, 2025 (PEN) Asaad Hassan al-Sheibani, the foreign minister in the new Syrian government, announced that his country will send a special team to Sudan to assess the conditions of Syrian citizens there, in light of the ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces since 2023.

Al-Shaibani tweeted: "Based on the directives of His Excellency President Ahmed al-Sharaa, we will send a special team to Sudan to assess the situation of Syrians under the current circumstances, provide the necessary support, and work to evacuate them and provide them with safety."
