A UN fund warns of humanitarian obstacles preventing the return of displaced persons to Khartoum.

July 6, 2025 (PEN) The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) announced that its field team recently visited Khartoum to assess damage to a number of hospitals, with findings revealing widespread destruction of vital health infrastructure. UNFPA also held discussions with local partners on the basic requirements to enable the return of displaced populations.

The Fund explained that the scale of humanitarian needs is enormous, stressing that the lack of reproductive health services represents a real obstacle to women's return to their homes, necessitating urgent intervention to restore health services and ensure basic care.
