Qatar praises decision to open Adre crossing, affirms commitment to support Sudanese people

August 16, 2024 (PEN) The State of Qatar welcomed the Sovereignty Council's decision to open the Adre border crossing with Chad, in order to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to citizens affected by the war.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the State of Qatar hopes that this decision will contribute to facilitating and accelerating the flow of aid to those in need in Darfur, and it also affirmed its aspiration that all parties will work to provide the necessary protection for humanitarian workers.

The Ministry reiterated the State of Qatar's firm position in support of the unity, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sudan, stressing its permanent support for the brotherly Sudanese people in these difficult times.
