American official: 25 million Sudanese need humanitarian assistance and protection

June 14, 2024 (PEN) In a tweet on the X platform, the US Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, confirmed that Sudan is witnessing the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. She noted that more than 25 million people in Sudan, or more than half of the country's population, need humanitarian assistance and protection.

Greenfield said that the UN Security Council called yesterday to protect civilians and allow humanitarian aid to flow freely across borders and conflict lines, in accordance with international law.
