EgyptAir launches flights and lands at Port Sudan Airport

5 September 2023(PEN) An EgyptAir plane landed on Tuesday at Port Sudan Airport as the first commercial flight of a foreign airline following the outbreak of war in Sudan.

This came after the Civil Aviation Authority in Sudan officially announced the opening of airspace in eastern Sudan as an alternative destination for Khartoum airport.

It is noteworthy that Sudanese airspace has been completely closed since April 15 due to the ongoing conflict, and the Civil Aviation Authority at the time excluded humanitarian aid flights and evacuations from the closure decision.
