Egypt and the European Union discuss the Sudan crisis.

November 25, 2025 (pen) - During his meeting with the European Union's envoy to the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber, on Monday, on the sidelines of the African-European Summit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, stressed the importance of a ceasefire in Sudan and creating the conditions for launching a comprehensive political process that preserves the country's unity and stability.

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdel-Aati referred to the results of his recent visit to Khartoum on November 11, calling for concerted regional and international efforts to support the Sudanese people and their national institutions in the current phase.

The minister stressed the need to "support the Hope Government headed by Kamel Idris," while emphasizing Cairo's rejection of any attempts to form a parallel government, considering that such steps would only confuse the situation and further complicate the crisis.

Abdel-Aati also called for launching an effective humanitarian corridor that would ensure the unhindered delivery of aid, in parallel with increasing relief support and strengthening cooperation with the United Nations, the African Union and humanitarian agencies, in order to alleviate the suffering of civilians.

According to the Foreign Ministry statement, the two sides agreed to continue close coordination between Egypt and the European Union regarding developments in Sudan, in order to strengthen efforts to de-escalate tensions, improve humanitarian conditions, and preserve Sudan’s unity and the integrity of its national institutions.

The importance of intensifying joint efforts to mobilize regional and international support was also emphasized, in order to create the appropriate climate for restoring security and stability on the ground.
