The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees distributes relief aid in Al-Damazin

January 17, 2024 (PEN) The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said that it had distributed basic relief materials to 500 families from the most vulnerable groups in Damazin.

The Commission confirmed the arrival of 1,050 families, most of them women and children, in Blue Nile State, explaining that they arrived in miserable conditions to escape the conflict in Gezira State.

The escalation of the conflict in Sudan exacerbates the suffering of the population, as they are now living under difficult conditions as a result of the violent escalation between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces since mid-April. Displacement and the interruption of basic services put the population facing a serious humanitarian challenge, according to international reports.
